Para el desarrollo del proyecto, han sido fundamentales tanto la ubicación estratégica del solar, con vistas al casco histórico de Galisteo, como su propia topografía.

El edificio pretende acomodarse en el desnivel existente, plegarse y estirarse hasta encontrar su propio lugar. Para ello la construcción ha ido generando sus propios espacios libres, patios diferenciados de recreo y pistas deportivas al aire libre, para a través de ellos buscar el mejor soleamiento (aulas a Norte y galerías de acceso a sur).
El proyecto se desarrolla fundamentalmente en la cota +94.35 mt., esto provoca una situación tal que el edificio pretende contener el desnivel del terreno hacia su fachada Este, para así desplegarse y abrirse hacia la calle lateral, situada en su lado Oeste, desde donde se produce el acceso principal al edificio. Esto no sólo implica una humanización de dicha calle, sino que podemos controlar así el volumen edificado, que de esta manera no supera los 7.20 metros de altura, generando finalmente un proyecto mimetizado con su entorno y amable no sólo con el pueblo de Galisteo si no con sus propios usuarios.

El proyecto desarrolla su programa en tres paquetes diferenciados, en situación y forma, ya que su uso y relación con el resto de los programas lo provoca: Administración general y profesorado. Núcleo de comunicaciones, área de aulas y talleres junto a patios / taquillas y área deportiva.

Un corredor cubierto que atraviesa el edificio de norte a sur, relaciona todos los paquetes funcionales descritos anteriormente. En el extremo norte, el área de deporte, se situá alejado para preservar del ruido al resto del edificio, pero no por ello menos comunicado: se crea una entrada para todo el área de deporte para permitir su funcionamiento de forma independiente al resto del instituto durante los fines de semana. Además esta entrada servirá para carga y descarga de material tanto deportivo como mobiliario escolar.

Los paquetes de talleres y aulas se encuentran asociados a unos patios, que pretenden ser fuente de luz y silencio durante las horas de clase. Estos patios se relacionan con el paisaje a través de un cerramiento discontinuo, que hace a la vez de cerramiento protector del edificio y de mirador hacia el pueblo de Galisteo.
El paquete de administración general y profesorado, se sitúa en la cota superior, junto al acceso principal del instituto, encajado contra el terreno, se ilumina y ventila sobre la cota del mismo. Esta ubicación permite visitas externas al colegio sin necesidad de atravesar áreas reservadas a los alumnos y profesores, y así no interferir el funcionamiento normal del área docente.

Características del aula
El aula y los talleres han tenido un tratamiento privilegiado en la orientación global del conjunto. Su orientación Norte, no sólo impide deslumbramientos si no que además la disposición del aula permite que el soleamiento entre a través de los patios por su lado izquierdo. Para optimizar el calentamiento del aula en invierno, se han colocado los radiadores siempre en fachada.
El acceso al aula se produce a través de un corredor , fuertemente relacionado con los patios, ya que este espacio se entiende como lugar de esparcimiento en los tiempos entre clase y clase. Para evitar una excesiva contaminación de ruidos hacia las aulas, se ha instalado una gruesa pared de separación que alberga las taquillas individuales de los alumnos.

Se ha querido optimizar al máximo la construcción del edificio, optando por una modulación estructural que sin menoscabar la relación del edificio con el entorno, permita una rápida y fácil ejecución del edificio. Es por ello que se ha optado por una modulación estructural tal que los pórticos de carga se encuentren separados entre sí una separación óptima, para así justificar la utilización de forjados unidireccionales en luces de 3.50 metros.
Constructivamente podríamos resumir que el edificio se construye mediante estructura de hormigón armado, cerramientos exteriores de bloques de hormigón y particiones interiores de fábrica de ladrillo.

Extremadura Government convoked a competition for the building of a school in the expanding area of Galisteo, a village of some 1,200 inhabitants in the Province of Caceres, with an outstanding Almohad wall that surrounds its historic core. The plot of land is situated on a low ridge next to a small group of industrial hangars.
The building adapts to the existing slope, bending and stretching forth until finding its own place and constructing its own topography, for which it has generated its own open spaces, distinctive playgrounds and sports courts, which seek the best insolation (classrooms to the north and access galleries to the south) and panoramic views towards the urban area of Galisteo.
The building basically unfolds along the plot’s lowest datum, which obliges it to contain the height difference of the terrain in the direction of its east facade in order to spread out and open up towards the side street in the west, an area from where the main access to the building is produced. This involves not only a humanisation of this street but also a control of the built volume, which thus does not exceed seven metres in height, finally generating a building that mimics its surroundings and is not only user-friendly but also fits in with the village.
The programme unfolds in three packages that are distinctive in situation and shape: general  administration and teaching staff; classroom and workshop area; and sports zone.
A covered passageway crosses the building from north to south, connecting all these functional packages. The sports zone is situated in the extreme north in order to isolate the rest of the building from the noise, without for all that being less well communicated: an entrance is created for the entire sports area in order to allow it to function independently of the rest of the institute during the weekends.
Both workshops and classrooms are linked to different playgrounds, a source of light and SIlence during school hours, which are related to the landscape via a discontinuous outer wall made with galvanised-steel components that. function as both a protective veil for the building and a mirador towards Galisteo.
The general administration and teaching staff area are situated on the upper datum, next to the main entrance to the school, boxed into the terrain, a placement that permits external visits to the school without the need to cross areas reserved for the pupils and teachers, and thus not interfering with the building’s teaching activities.
The classrooms and workshops face north, in order to prevent excessive glare; the layout
of the classroom enables the sun to enter through the playgrounds to its left. Access to the classroom is produced via a passageway with a strong relationship to the playgrounds, and which is understood as a place of recreation in the dead time between classes. In order to avoid noise pollution in the direction of the classrooms, a stout separating wall has been installed that houses the lockers of the pupils.
